Non-secondary Stainless Steel AISI 420(SS2303) Plates/ Bars

Stainless steel AISI 420(SS2303) is available in shapes like plates, sheets and bars. Bebon is able to manufacture and supply non-secondary stainless steel AISI 420(SS2303) plates/bars.

AISI 420 SS is martensitic stainless steel and suitable for machining. The alloy has high tensile strength and good corrosion resistance. It shall not be used in marine or in chloride environment. It is used for e.g. shafts, spindles, pump parts and nuts. AISI 420 steel is magnetic and in the quenched and tempered condition.

Welding and Forming:

The steel is machinable and suits good for production of details with good resistance to e.g. air water steam, freshwater, certain alkaline solutions and other mildly aggressive chemicals. AISI 420 is possible to weld and shall be welded with welding consumables similar to that of the parent one. It is generally easier to machine than “conventional” austenitic steels. The heat treatment condition of 1.4021 is QT 700 and it should be hot formed in the temperature range 1100-800°C. Slow cooling after hot forming.
