1045 Grade Steel Bright Round Bar
1045 grade steel is commonly known as a medium carbon steel. It is commonly stocked in round bars. 1045 bright round bars are ued in various machinery and engineering applications.
Grade 1045 is not normally considered a screw machine steel and is only fair for brazing and welding. However, it can be forged satisfactorily and is the most common shafting steel in the medium carbon range. 1045 bright round bars are suitable for induction and flame hardening. Care must be taken when welding these steels, you should consult a welding specialist before welding.
This is a fully killed steel produced to fine grain practice by the electric arc or basic oxygen furnace process. Its relatively high strength coupled with reasonably good ductility make Grade steel 1045 a natural choice for miscellaneous parts such as shafts and gears.
