Y1Cr18Ni9 Stainless Steel Composition & Free‑Machining Austenitic Properties

Y1Cr18Ni9 is a free‑machining austenitic stainless steel specified in GB/T 4237 and GB/T 4238, commonly regarded as the Chinese equivalent of Grade 303. It contains 17–19% chromium, 8–10% nickel, and sulfur additions to significantly improve machinability.

The grade performs exceptionally well in turning, drilling, threading, and automatic machining operations, improving production efficiency and extending tool life. Common applications include bolts, nuts, fittings, valve parts, shafts, and precision mechanical components.

Y1Cr18Ni9 is available as bars, rods, wires, and selected plate products. It is widely used in precision machining, automatic lathe production, and industrial hardware manufacturing.
