1.4435 Stainless Steel Composition & High‑Purity Corrosion Resistance
1.4435 (X2CrNiMo18‑14‑3) is a high‑purity, high‑nickel, low‑carbon austenitic stainless steel grade under EN 10028‑7 and EN 10088‑2. As an enhanced version of 316L, it contains 17–19% chromium, 13–15% nickel, and 2.5–3% molybdenum, offering superior pitting resistance and improved stability in chloride‑rich and acidic environments. The grade features extremely low carbon content and strict inclusion control, making it suitable for pharmaceutical equipment, food‑processing systems, ultrapure‑water installations, and hygienic piping. It maintains excellent weldability and retains corrosion resistance and surface cleanliness after welding. 1.4435 is supplied as plates, tubes, bars, and strips. It is widely used in biopharmaceutical systems, chemical reactors, heat exchangers, pump and valve components, and premium architectural applications. As a high‑purity upgrade to 316L, it provides reliable performance in demanding corrosive and hygienic environments.
