1.4303 Stainless Steel Composition & Formability

1.4303 (X4CrNi18-12) is a high-nickel austenitic stainless steel grade specified under EN 10028-7 and EN 10088-2. Positioned within the 301/305 family, it contains 17–19% chromium and 11–13% nickel, providing a stable austenitic structure with excellent deep-drawing capability and a lower work-hardening rate compared with standard 304.
The grade offers superior performance in deep drawing, stretching, and spinning processes, making it suitable for complex-shaped sheet components. Its corrosion resistance is comparable to 304, performing well in atmospheric conditions, food-grade environments, and mildly corrosive media. 1.4303 is supplied mainly as cold-rolled sheets, strips, and thin plates. It is widely used in appliance panels, kitchen equipment, deep-drawn containers, architectural components, and lightweight mechanical parts. Its high-nickel composition ensures excellent formability, surface quality, and processing stability, making it a preferred choice for applications requiring demanding forming operations.
